Edgar Andrews’ Onefootinglory Podcast
Old men are often said to have ”one foot in the grave” but those whose trust is wholly in Jesus Christ for time and eternity are not looking forward to the grave but to glory, for the Bible says that to be ”absent from the body” is to be ”present with the Lord”. At the age of 87, therefore, I have chosen this name for my new podcast which will feature videos of talks, comments and lectures about the Bible and science and also Bible expositions.

Psalm 73 traces Asaph’s journey from spiritual crisis—lamenting the prosperity of the wicked and feeling abandoned—into renewed understanding after entering the sanctuary of God (not a building but a picture of the bible). It highlights three movements: the psalmist’s complaint, his restraint from airing doubts, and his eventual comprehension through God’s presence. We see how Scripture restores perspective, teaching God’s sovereignty, our own ignorance, and the comfort of God’s continual presence, guidance, and hope of glory. The talk applies these lessons to real Christian struggles like trauma, discouragement, and neglecting the means of grace.

We use the weed infested and good soils of the parable of the sower respectively to distinguish the false or nominal christian who has not been born again from the true christian who is indwelt by the Holy Spirit and lives in the power of that Spirit to live a life that glorifies God by faithfully serving Christ and trusting in him alone for salvation and eternal life. This is important for us today when churches are often filled with worshippers who honestly think they are christians but fail the tests of Scripture such Matthew 7:21

This episode explores Jesus’ Parable of the Sower from Matthew 13, focusing on the first half of the story and its explanation. It highlights the Holy Spirit as the true sower and explains how different soils represent spiritual responses to the gospel. Practical lessons are drawn about evangelism, spiritual opposition, shallow faith, and the importance of deep roots and the Spirit’s sustaining power in times of trial. The talk concludes with a preview that the parable’s remaining sections—the thorny ground and the good soil—will be examined in the next episode.

Why do the heathen rage? We answered this question in our previous podcast on Psalm 2:1-5. This episode completes our study of Psalm 2 by showing how the psalm applies the psalm predicts the events recorded two thousand years later in Acts 4 concerning Christ’s death, persecution and resurrection, while also highlighting prophetic elements of the psalm that remain unfulfilled. Using passages from Acts, Matthew 24–25, 2 Peter 3, and 1 Corinthians 15, we demonstrate the certainty of Christ’s return, the reality of a future earthly reign, the final separation of the righteous and unrighteous, and a clear application ... live holy, bear the fruit of the Spirit, and remain ready for Christ’s coming.
