Deeply committed to revisiting Corinth, Paul is unable to keep his promise to do so, forced to remain in Ephesus by great opportunities and equally fierce opposition. We too must acknowledge the sovereign hand of God in redirecting our paths. Concerned about the fragility of the Corinthian church, Paul enlists the help of Timothy who is providentially available to go in his place He thus avoids personal confrontation that might harm rather than help the Corinthians. This account exemplifies the way God provides for His people in all ages through both human help and the divine Helper, His Holy Spirit.
