Do the Bible's autographs ever make mistakes? Some would say yes, arguing that Paul's account of his post-conversion travels in Galatians 2 contradict that found in Acts 9 to 12. Galatians records three visits to Jerusalem including the first church Council while Acts describes four. Does it matter? Hugely, for it determines our doctrine of Scripture. Are the Scriptures "breathed out by God" (2 Tim. 3:16) and thus infallible or ultimately the work of their human authors? What seems at first a simple historical narrative, our passage today has a fundamental effect on our theology. Paul explains why no contradiction exists.
