Paul declares the gospel afresh to the Corinthian church although he is writing to genuine believers (i Cor. 15:1-11). Is he wasting his time seeing that they knew it already? No, Firstly, Paul knew that in any sizeable company of Christians there are likely to be baptized "nominal" christians who fail Christ's John 3 test ... to be a real Christian a person must be born again by the Holy Spirit. Secondly, genuine believers need to be constantly reminded of the privileges and resposibilities of being God's children. Paul then show that the essence of the gospel lies in being based on three historical facts; the virgin birth, the crucifixion and the resurrection of Christ ... facts authenticated by their prediction in the OT hundreds of uears before they happened.
