The author C. S. Lewis posed a trilemma which can be rendered, "Jesus was either mad, bad or God". He further argued, as we do here, that Jesus' unique moral teaching ruled out the first two alternatives. In this reading from the book "What is Man? Adam, alien or ape?" we examine the meaning of Christmas by focusing on Jesus of Nazareth as the "Second Adam". We survey both the claims of skeptics and the historical evidence that the Bible is historically reliable and that Jesus of Nazareth was indeed the incarnate Son of God who came into the world to save sinners and bestow on them eterrnal life.
