Edgar Andrews’ Onefootinglory Podcast
Old men are often said to have ”one foot in the grave” but those whose trust is wholly in Jesus Christ for time and eternity are not looking forward to the grave but to glory, for the Bible says that to be ”absent from the body” is to be ”present with the Lord”. At the age of 87, therefore, I have chosen this name for my new podcast which will feature videos of talks, comments and lectures about the Bible and science and also Bible expositions.

Each episode is an expository sermon or Bibe study delivered at the Garden City Church (formerly the Campus Church) in UK at Welwyn Garden City, postcode AL7 3UQ or an apologetics talk or reading from one of my books.
Edgar Andrews is Emeritus Professor of Materials Science at London University, UK and has also published read-like-a-book Bible Commentaries on Galatians and Hebrews and a variety of Biblical apolgetics books including "Who made God? Searching for a theory of everything" and "What is Man? Adam, alien or ape?".

This is part two of our Christmas Meditation and continues the theme of Christ's fulfilment of old testament prophecy but with emphasis on those scriptures that predicted his person and nature, namely his virgin birth, hid deity, his atoneing death and hiss exaltation to be King of kings and LORD of lords. The author C. S. Lewis posed a trilemma which can be rendered, "Jesus was either mad, bad or God". He further argued, as we do here, that Jesus' unique moral teaching ruled out the first two alternatives. In this reading from the book "What is Man? Adam, alien or ape?" we examine the meaning of Christmas by focusing on Jesus of Nazareth as the "Second Adam". Pursuing his gospel ministry, Paul came under attack in Ephesus from the Jews who resented his preaching to the Gentiles, from the devotees of the pagan god Artemis (aka Diana) and from the silversmiths who grew rich selling images of Artemis. Arriving in Jerusalem he came under attack from the Jews in the temple and was arrested by the Roman authorities and eventually sent to Rome in chains. But through all these things the gospel prospered, many churches were planted and thousands came to faith in Christ. Encouragement here for us today!

But God made a promise to Eve and repeated it through the ages to Abraham, Job, Moses, David, the Prophets and to John the Baptist. This episode is not the next in-depth exposition in the Book of Esther (that will come later) but a survey of the chapters (one to six) we have expounded over recent months. A Christian family visiting our church from overseas turned out to know nothing about the Book of Esther, so instead of expounding the next section as I had planned, I gave an impromptu and unprepared review of the six chapters we have already covered. Some who have followed the series also found the review helpful.
